One Act Festival 2010
Tuesday 4th - Saturday 8th May, 2010 in East Kilbride Village Theatre. Curtain up at 7.30pm.Adjudicator: Dr Paul K. Dougall
Our annual Festival of One Act Plays is known as ‘the friendly festival’. Each of the entering clubs are very competitive and want to win but never-the-less the atmosphere remains friendly and most of all, enjoyable.
“That atmosphere pervades over the footlights to the audience who equally enjoy the performances, which go on all week from Tuesday through to the final plays on Saturday.” said Festival Co-ordinator Mrs. Carole Matthew.
Each night sees a public adjudication for each play as well as a private one for the individual clubs themselves.
Presentations take place on the Saturday night from the following categories, Best staging, Best Actor, Best Actress, First Place play, Second Place play and Third Place play.
The adjudicator this year, Dr Paul K. Dougall, is an old friend to the Festival.
Dr Dougall adjudicated our festival last year and also back in 1992 and 1998. In 2006 he was involved in adjudicating in the Glasgow District Festival.
Dr Dougall is the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Strathclyde, Senior lecturer in Drama Education and an adjudicator/assessor of the Scottish Community Drama Association and a member of The Scottish Drama Adjudicators Association (SASDA). He has other responsibilities and interests in musical theatre and dance. He is involved in arts reviewing and a writer for radio and television. He also is an external examiner at Queen Margaret University.
