East Kilbride Rep "Hall of Fame"
Some of our former members have gone on to become stars of stage and screen...
![]() | John HannahPerhaps our most famous former member. John Hannah was born in East Kilbride. He attended Claremont High School and on leaving school went on to become an apprentice electrician. His passion for acting led him to join East Kilbride Rep in the early 1980's. John quit his work as an electrician when he was accepted at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. After leaving the RSAMD, and many years as a struggling actor, his 'big break' came when he was cast as Matthew in the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral. ![]() | James MacphersonBest known for playing Michael Jardine in long-running Glasgow detective series Taggart, Hamilton born James very nearly became a real-life policeman! James has an uncle who is a policeman and he considered joining the force himself, but during a job interview he discovered that a life in the force was not for him so he turned his attention to acting! After a short spell at an amateur dramatics club in Motherwell, James joined East Kilbride Rep. It was with East Kilbride Rep that James made his stage debut, playing Bamforth in The Long and the Short and the Tall. The very same production had John Hannah on the cast! Bitten by the acting bug, James enrolled at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and after graduating in 1985 he worked on several BBC radio plays before landing his famous Taggart role in 1987. With a few stage appearances under his belt, Adam made his television debut in 1999 in Boyz Unlimited, a Channel 4 comedy created by Matt Lucas and David Walliams about the ups and downs of a manufactured boy band. This led to roles in teen comedy/drama As If and two series of Sky One's cabin crew comedy/drama Mile High. Adam's film career began with 2001's World War II PoW drama To End All Wars, starring alongside Robert Carlyle and Kiefer Sutherland. It was on the set of To End All Wars that Adam met his wife, Michelle Kath, Kiefer Sutherland's step-daughter. Click here for Adam Sinclair's page on the Internet Movie Database. |
