East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club is currently rehearsing Calendar Girls, which opens on the 5th September. This will be the premiere amateur production north of the border as East Kilbride Rep will be the first amateur dramatics society in Scotland to perform the play out of over 500 in the UK who will be staging it over the next 18 months.
Within the performing rights fee, there will be a donation going centrally to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. In addition, East Kilbride Rep will be supporting Kilbryde Hospice in their fundraising efforts for a new hospice building to be based in the grounds of Hairmyres Hospital.
This is an exciting new project that will be a huge asset and support to patients suffering from life-limiting conditions, and their carers.
East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club has donated 50 tickets for their productions this season, which Kilbryde Hospice can sell on or use as raffle prizes.
Donna Hegarty, Business Development Officer for Kilbryde Hospice, said "It is fantastic that East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club have chosen to support the hospice in this way. As we approach the start of the build for our new hospice, theatre tickets are a great way for us to thank many of our fantastic volunteers who have supported us. It really is down to the people and businesses in Lanarkshire that we are now at that stage to start our hospice build."
A display can be seen in the Kilbryde Hospice shop window in East Kilbride Shopping Centre depicting Calendar Girls.
